Our Impact - About the Alice Ferguson Foundation

Education. Inspiration. Innovation. For more than six decades, the Alice Ferguson Foundation has embodied these guiding principles. We've established environmental education programs that benefit thousands of students each year. We've inspired transformative tactics to tackle trash in our communities and waterways. And we've built one of the most innovative structures in the world as we've embraced the Living Building Challenge on our education campus on the shores of the Potomac River.

Last year, we

  • Brought science to life for more than 5,600 students through 120 field schools in national and state parks across the region
  • Engaged more than 2,000 students through 79 field studies and overnight visits to our education campus and working farm
  • Taught more than 1,100 students from 39 schools about recycling and reducing waste in their classrooms and communities
  • Engaged more than 10,000 volunteers across 300+ cleanups to remove more than 345,000 pounds of trash from the Potomac watershed.
